Nice guide, more organized than the DEP book lol. I absorb knowledge like a sponge at the DEP meetings, and thoroughly enjoy doing push-ups so I'll have to skip this until the week before boot camp lol.

Hello I'm a new member, and seriously considering joining but I have not talked to a recruiter that much except for web chat, but Im wondering if anyone would have an opinion about pros and cons of joining the navy as opposed to the coast guard or Army? ...also what is the dep book?

Soap, I would highly recommend you speak with a recruiter. There are advantages to each and if you don't want a biased opinion, you need to get the facts. The military is a giant decision but it is a great job option, and an opportunity to serve and protect the ones you care for, which is totally something to be proud of. The US Navy is one of the most technologically advanced organisation is the world. It is the most high-tech branch of service, which means great vocational training and skills, and an opportunity to do what most people never will. The Navy also has, IMHO, the best help for college if that is something you are considering. Or if you have a family, though when you are deployed, you won't be around your family as much as you would in Coast Guard, the distance might not be as difficult to bear as if you were in the Army.

A DEP book is a study tool for future sailors, enlisted personnel waiting to go to boot camp, like myself, to master the very basics of seamanship and possibly get a promotion for it.

DEP means delayed entry program and is used in all branches. (I think)
