Hello to all. My husband and I just got married a little over 5 weeks ago. He left 10 days ago for bootcamp. I was wondering if anyone else's family member is there at the same time. He arrived January 14th. And for those of you who can help me with this next question, I would GREATLY appreciate it. I received 2 letters today from my husband and was wondering if this was going to be his permanate address. It is written:
Recruit Training Command
Ship 14 Div 118
3410 Sailor Dr.
Great Lakes, IL 60088
The reason I ask is because he wrote that he was going to his ship, the USS Arizona "tomorrow". I'm so anxious to send him letters back but wanted to make sure he would receive it. Also, what's the best way to send? I've heard to send it priority mail, or should I just send letters with the regular mail??? Thank you so much for whoever replies. I just logged onto this site so I havent had the opportunity to set up my profile. Will do that after this post. Thanks a million times over
Carly:)

Hi Carly....welcome. That is the correct way to address letters to him....just keep writing. Our youngest daughter's boyfriend is there now and the address that we were told was totally different from this standard format which was strange. It came on his form letter but having gone through BC 2 times already I thought it was strange.
His first letter to our daughter had this correct format....needless to say it tool awhile for letters to catch up to him but they did get to him....
Regular mail is fine and I would suggest to sent pictures with EVERY letter.....hang in there, it will be over before you know it.

Thanks so much Kristie. I've been anxiously waiting for a reply. I'm going to put letters in the mail ASAP! Do you know about how long it takes for them to receive the mail?

Hi Carlylynn, My boyfriend just graduated last week from Boot Camp and I usually got letters every Thursday or Friday but sent up to 3 or 4 a week. Matt was allowed to write every sunday and in the last letter wrote a little every night so I knew what was going on with him. Time will go by faster than you know it! It seems to drag but just keep yourself busy and it will be Graduation before you know it! Make sure you get to graduation early so you can get a good seat. Send lots of pictures and as many letters as you can, they really look forward to getting the mail and they really appreciate it. My boyfriend asked me to start writing every day to him lol It was something to look forward to.

Thank you both Kristie and akd72085! I imagine that the recruits do crave some home "love" in the mail. I've actually been trying to write everyday and I hope I can continue it. I'm glad that they are able to receive everyday. I know how anxious I am to get one from him; I expect they are all more excited to have a break from the routine and know what's going on in the world. Thank yall for being so kind and replying. Look foward to the future advice. Take care.

Hey Carly, one more thought! A good way to write is kind of like a journal entry, my boyfriend wished he had done so all along! He wrote a little each night so then when he could actually send it out he didn't forget to tell you something he had wanted to say. My boyfriend's dad wrote the same way, whereas I just sat down and whipped out a letter whenever I wanted and sent it right out. I usually averaged at least 2 letters to him a week if not more!

Hey Ashley,
I actually started journaling in a small notebook the day I had to drop him off. I got to write in about11 days of what was going on here at home and my feelings. I was going to wait to send it to him after bootcamp but wanted him to have as much mail as possible. So I actually sent that off this past weekend with 3 other letters;) and have been putting a letter in the mail everyday since. I do think you are right about keeping up with the daily journaling...helps to keep the letters in order as well. I put some pics in the first few letters but need to take some new ones. Havent had the chance since he left. Thanks for the support and although you are in a different phase than me, I'm here as well for any encouragement. I'm trying to stay as busy as ever. The first two weeks I've found to be the hardest, but after getting letters from him, I know things will be uphill now. 6 weeks and 3 days til his graduation...may the time fly!! Thanks again, it's nice to have someone to turn to who is going through the same thing! Take care and i hope to be talking to you soon.
Carly:)
