They are talking about two place that we are going but they dont know which one yet. All they now right now is that we will be moving in the midddle of january. They scary part about me is that i have two little boys and they dont know where they are sending him yet so we cant start calling his new base and start setting up for navy housing or anything like that. So what so i do in the case please some one help me out i am going to go crazy!

Well ... first off .... CONGRATULATIONS !! Nothing like a move to start the New Year off right, eh ?

All kidding aside, here is what I would recommend. Since you know the two possible locations already, I would call the Family Service Center on both of the bases and have them each send you their relocation packages. The Family Service Center where you are now will be able to give you the numbers.

Ask them to send information about the schools (make sure they know the ages), base housing contact number as well as their list of recommended rentals out in the economy (in case there is a wait for housing) and if you desire to work ... they can also provide some input for that as well. That will give you a head start and you can do alot of further research from that point on.

Another avenue for research of the new locations would be through the Navy & Marine Corps Relief Society .... if you contact the office at the new duty station, they will be able to tell you things like what local utilities are costing. ** This is a little known secret and rarely used resource but they do have this valuable info on hand. (PS ... they are always looking for volunteers as well, in case you want to do something to help other sailors & marines and their families).

Back on topic ..... *** As soon as you find out for sure where you are going and he has orders in hand, make sure you folks call the housing office and get your name on the list for housing and with the number of bedrooms that you need. They can't do it until he has orders though.

Good luck to you and keep us posted on where you are headed !!

Another call that you need to make very soon will be to the OMBUDSMAN for your husbands new duty station. They are the liason between the command and the family and should have resources out the wazoo for helping your family get settled in to your new surroundings.

So Today we found out where we are going. We got Mayport Florida which is nice because now we can get away from all the snow. Speaking of snow once again we have another snow storm in Groton CT right now know. Well now i know what i have to do and i only have a short time to do it seeing he has to report there by the middle of this month and with two little guys i have to get a move on stuff. Well thanks for all the info.

You're down the road from St Augustine. Gotta go for a week and stay at one of the bed and breakfasts there. Everything is within walking distance and if you like haunted stuff, they will take you on ghost tours too. Highly recommended.

I cant wait into we get there the cold weather is driving me crazy but we had a little set back on new years day my husband was rushed to the er to find out that he only had mins to a hour before his appendix would burst open. The surgey went well but he is home because he got a really bad infection in his intestinal area. But because of this medical is going to still clear him to go but because of the timeing it is going to make it come close to the last day that we have to get down to florida. Plus with all the stress from family and friends wanting to know what is going on and me soul looking out for my husband and kids i have come down with a cold so i dont feel like doing anything for the move but i have to keep my head up high and keep going to support my husband and make sure we get him there in time so he dont lose his spot.

By god ... you are definately a true Navy Wife !!! They don't call it "The hardest job in the Navy" for nothing ... now you see why.

But just know that others before you have faced the same things .... you will get through this, everyone will get better, the transfer will happen on time, kids will settle in to their new surroundings, hubby will report in and go to work and when all that happens, then you can sit back and know that it couldn't have happened without you !!

Hooyah Navy Wives !!
