Welcome Michelle,
Glad you could join us........ What are you going to do with that precious little one while you are in boot camp and gone for 6 months or so at a time?????
Are you ready to leave him with no physical contact for long periods?
I hate to cut straight to the point, but there are soooo many young girls that go in with little ones and then can't handle that aspect of it and get out.
Everything else you will do during boot and deployment will be gravy compared to leaving your little one behind and not having physical contact and missing large periods of his life.

There are no guarantees that you will have shore duty your entire time in or that you won't be deployed somewhere oversea's depending upon what rating you sign up for.
Plus depending upon where you are stationed at if you were land based entirely who would watch him for you??
There are alot of logistics to work out being a single mom in the service. (assuming your single)

another thing to consider ... you would be required to sign over custody to someone in order to join. It wouldn't matter if it was a parent or significant other ... but it would need to be done.
Unless your situation is that dire ... I don't recommend it. There are plenty of other ways to take care of your family.
Cheers,

Good thing you stopped in here, no telling what some of the recruiters might have told you. Thanks for stopping in and checking your options with people who know what they are talking about and aren't trying to get their quote :)
Before I end this post, i'm not saying all recruiters are like that. Nor have I actually met one, all of my recruiters were straightforward with me. I am sure there are some out there though, heard all about them from my shipmates.
