Just got a call from my husband and he is one of the very very few survivors so he will have a job on Jan 1.....then we will be going through the are they going to just shut the plant down or sell it.....

I guess nothing these days is secure!

But we are rejoicing right now....
:woohoo:

Tell him to keep an eye open on the Oceaneering website .... things will pick up here soon and may be something that interests him.

Where I work, they are shippng a lot of jobs overseas. My wife and I both work at the same place (big building, though..) She is more secure than I. At my current job there isn't a lot of thought process involved, as she works with the software.

On the bright side, If I get a package before I leave for basic.., that would be nice :)

Glad to hear that he has a reprive.... I hope things work out in the long run.
Things just don't look good anywhere right now.

I am so happy to hear he will be keeping his job. I have been praying for all that are losing jobs. My step son lost his job a month ago. He is going back to school. But hard to do with wife and 2 kids.

That's great news Kristie. I guess you could look at it as an early Christmas gift.
I will keep you all in prayer.

We just found out Hubby's last day of work is Jan 23. From this week they get 12 weeks full pay and insurance till May.
Even if there is no work they still have to go in till the 23rd. Yesterday they had a BBQ.

Yesterday Dec 12th was Neal's last day at DHL. He has a couple job leads and one looks very promising but won't start till April. Will let you know more about it later
He needs surgry on his foot so this time off will give him time to heal. Surgery is scheduled for Jan 9th or 16th depending on my foot. He will be off of his for a month. Me hopefully only a couple of days so , I might get done first.
We will be leaving for Winnipeg Canada the 27th of Dec on a much needed trip. Have always wanted tog o there but not sure of all the snow and cold but oh well.

Debbie....I sure hated to hear about Neal's job. We both had the same last day.....although mine hopefully will only be for 3 weeks. There is not really enough time to find another job right now and with Robby needing me and Jennifer coming home I think I am going to enjoy my time off.....

We are thinking about Neal.....and you!

Glad to hear this, Bonnie's job is not so secure right now, she work in the automotive business at the corp office, they have already let a few go and suspended their 401k benefits (matching).

Sorry to hear about the job issues. My neighbor has recently lost his job as well, and his wife just underwent breast surgery. She is taking Chemo now, but they lost their insurance due to her husbands job loss. Times are really tough right now, the economy is shakey, and job security is declining. I wish now I had made a career of the Navy and stayed in for 20 years. We have to make a career of something, why not the Navy? I hope people close to their EAS will reconsider their re-enlistment options, alot of ratings have mega bonuses up to $10,000. I feel bad for anyone who is struggling in this poor economy. Good luck to anyone who has to experience job loss. You are all in my prayers!
