I will be going in as a tier 2. Does anyone have any idea what this is or how it will effect any jobs/bonuses I will get offered at MEPS? I saw somewhere online that there are different tiers right now for bonuses. I wasn't sure if they meant the tier you would go in as, or if it just meant tier one was the highest paying one and so on. Anyway, here is the link, sorry if this is a stupid question. I could ask my recruiter but I have been told to very careful with what they decided to tell you and not tell you. Thanks so much guys!

Tier 2 rating specialties: $15,000 lump sum:
AC - Air Traffic Control
ET - Electronics Technician
I take this to mean that these are the two ratings you are giong for? So this is what you COULD get.

I know this was asked a while back, so not sure if you have gotten your answers yet or not. Tier 1 and Tier 2 applies to your education level. It is how they classify you based on what type of high school education you have. Tier 1 is a traditional high school. Tier 2 is more alternative education, GED, etc. My husband was homeschooled, and did an international educational curriculum, and luckily they allowed him to have Tier 1 because of the amount of credits and types of courses he had. Other wise he would have been Tier 2. Which basically means the score you need for the job you want is almost double that of a Tier 1 person.
For example, If the rating you want takes an overall 35 or 40 on the ASVAB to qualify, as a tier 2, you may have to make as much as a 50 or 60to get it.
Hope this helps.
