I did a search and didn't see anything about them. New blue BDUs and khaki and black. WTH?
The BDU's I wouldn't mind but the khaki and black? What about blue?
THe service dress is not changed..

yep, you're right. they look alright, they're getting issued right now. i think they're better than the working whites and working blues that we had. women dont have to tuck them in, so that means no more shirt stays...and you dont have to iron the military creases in cause they're sewn in! yay for that!

i like the Johnny Cash's, but i don't care much for the working whites. im def. happy the creases are sewn in

That sounds nice. I'm excited for them, only I think the black jacket that goes over it looks a little goofy, but eh. And Rob, "black IS the Navy's Navy Blue" as Petty Officer said.
Well, at least these won't be as easy to get dirty as the working whites! Only problem is when a couple of Senior Cheifs came in the other day, I couldn't see their bloomin' rank until they were right up on me! This is gonna kill me.

I for one ... HATE the new uniforms. Whoever thought that combination up needs a drug screening :LforLoser:.
I never really cared for the working uniforms either ... They should stick with coveralls and dress blues. Ya just can't top a pressed set of Crackerjacks especially on overseas liberty !!!
And I really miss my comfy "wash khakis" .... now THAT was a uniform !!

I LOVE coveralls. Utilities suck, whites get too dirty...I think the new uniforms are okay...the womens shirts don't have front pockets though. I wont know where to put my ID card! That's where I keep it, even right now it's in my left pocket in my coveralls. Sometimes they just dont make sense.

Lol, yes, utilities do suck. I am pretty stoked about wearing the dress blues. The new uniform doesn't bother me too much.. I just think black and khaki clash a little too much. All kinds of people are wearing the uniform here.

So are the white "sailor" uniforms gone? Seems odd they would do that- such an iconic uniform and all.

I was one of the few that truly enjoyed the old school dungarees .... bell bottom pants with identical pockets on the bow & stern !! I wore my uniforms so much that you could see through the shirts and read my last 4 SSN on my t-shirt. My chief made me retire those shirts before I left the ship in Hawaii headed back to the Mainland ....
The current utilities don't breathe as well ... which can be an issue in the main spaces & while fighting fires.
Blue camo ..... why ? so we can "hide" behind a wave ?? Just going to lead to more crap being stuffed in the cargo pockets ... gonna be like an anchor if you go overboard.

im probably the last person who can put input for this topic, but ill give my 2 Cents none the less
The new Navy uniform(NWU, Navy Working Uniform) is based off a combination of the Armys ACU, and BDU. The new uniform provides breathing ability(from the ACUs, cause they really do let u breath) and the Boots from the BDUs. They are giving out prototypes during the Winter, and if all goes well, the Navy will start issuing the uniforms sometime in 2009.
Heres a good pic of the new uniforms

id prefer these Navy ACUs to the other uniforms that recruits have to wear. I had to wear ACUs in Army Boot Camp, and they are actually very comfortable, alot more so then a button up blue shirt and black dress pants XD

i'm pretty sure that starting January 2009, all the boots will be issued the BDU's...as far as i know they're already getting the new working uniform instead of the working blues and whites.

ok good, id hate having to wear the working blues and whites during basic, cause lord knows they're gonna be smokin us recruits half to death

you only wear them during boot for personal inspections, or if your RDCs decide to do what they call a "fashion show" haha. and you would have worn them on your liberty after graduation. but not anymore, lucky! i hate the whites...

lol. All ACUs and BDUS, dont matter wat service, are worn for show, not for concealment. "Hell, i'm gonna go to the office, just let me put on my ACUs first!"
