Okay so my husband is in the Navy, he is atm Crossrating to a CTN.(he Previously was a PS.) yay! im so proud of him, he just had his first week of A school... and well the homework isn't classified its just extra work to help with Binary and converting to hex and oct.... anyways i got REALLLLLY into ! and learned it really fast. its fun...so my husband says If you enjoy it so much why don't you join and be a CTN to....... So i thought Why not =) lol... Ive been studying for asvab ever since... I took it while i was in high school and did well but that was over 4 years ago!! so i went and bought a asvab study book and been pretty much aceing the "practice exams" yay! i figured almost 5 years out of high school i would forget most of this stuff.. but turns out i've learned more... /boggle.......

ANYWAYS!!! The reason why i've come to this forum is to hopefully talk to some recently graduated female recruits.. as ive heard from a friend who recently talked to a RDC that they no longer cut the female hair to teach uniformity, but Teach the recruits standards how to care for their hair instead.

Next question i have is about the Bras.. specifically the sports bras, i recently had Breast reduction lift surgery a month ago and will need to wait 3 months before returning to "normal exercise"... and i heard we can bring our own bras and panties but i've also heard they make you send them home... is it because the girls bras and panties don't meet regulations and they make them send their things home? or is it because they just flat out don't let you keep your things? Just want to make sure my new boobs are supported properly.

These next questions i'm just curious =) because if they Supply EVERYTHING, then whats the point of bringing anything but the clothes on your back? lol
How much time do you REALLY get to shower?
Do they supply Hair brushes, ties and the barrets to keep bangs out of our face?
Do i need to bring my birth control or do they supply me new packs? or am i allowed to even take it there?

Thanks in advance to anyone who actually reads this long post! lol

LOL...
I am thinking they still cut the hair... Haven't heard any different on that one. But CousinIT should be along to answer that one for you and the other ones.
But welcome to the forum...

AT1 said the same thing at the DEP meeting tonight about the hair. He said that he'll find out for sure for me though, so I'll let you know as soon as he finds out! I'm trying to grow it out so it's long enough to donate by the time I leave, though [if we have to cut it, that is].

Jennifer....CousinIT....did have to have hair cut during BC...they will supply you with everything you need.....most things they tell you to bring...don't because it will just go back home.....both of my just took a change of clothes for MEPS and address' on paper folded in wallet....stamps and phone card. They were both allowed to keep their contacts for pictures and graduation.....

Jennifer is currently out at sea somewhere on her new ship and really busy but hopefully will be along to help with questions...

My hair is really long, and going to keep growing it out and cut it & donate it before i leave. even if they dont cut my hair in boot camp ill still cut it short enough to where its really easy to wash and brush. ive found that the longer my hair is the longer my shower haha.
Going to chat with recruiter today about where to go to retake asvab... I found out from another girl that if the shampoo bottle is small enough they let you keep it. Ill probably just end up bringing my favorite sports bra(its the one the DR issued me after my surgery) so ill just reallllly hope and pray they let me keep it. i was told if they aren't supported properly after surgery, they have a chance of "falling" and sagging sooner than expected. maybe i can get a dr note LOL...
Yeah but Sports bra, and tiny bottle of shampoo Pert 2 n 1,the size you would get in the travel section of walmart and phone card.
Ill probably end up getting waxed before i go =) so i wont have to worry about shaving for a while and get the Depo shot so i wont have to worry about a period for 3 months.
hmmm Any other advice ??

You might have to wait a while before they let you in because of the surgery. But definitely go talk to your doctor and your recruiter about it all. :]

So i just got back from the recruiters office. Going tomorrow to take a practice exam at 5, she told me to take the ones on Military.com and tell her how i do, because many times people score better on different types of tests. The plastic surgeon said by 3 months after surgery date i can go back to normal work out. which would be Oct 17... she said people that were going to meps in June were coming back with January / Feb ship out dates. She said i shouldnt have a problem getting in because of my psoriasis. that if there is a problem with it all i will need is a waiver. since its not serious, and has stayed contained and treatable for 10 yrs that it wont be hard getting a waiver signed and approved =)
Now its just scoring well on the asvab! lol i went to books a million last week and bought a asvab book and have been studying that every day

coming from a guy who just went through boot in september 2008, they do cut females hair.. and in bootcamp, you do look like crap.. No matter what you do. I only saw 1 good looking girl in bootcamp, and that was because she was all clean and about to graduate.
